Painted Turtles....

Is It A Boy or Girl?

A fun fact about painted turtles is the way you can tell males and females apart. Males have really long fingernails and they used them (fingernails) to attract females (painted turtles) for mating.

Males will tickle the faces of females and all around them before they mate. That's how you tell a male painted turtle from a female painted turtle is by fingernails!
