Spirit Statement

Ever since I was a little girl, I can remember being surrounded and uplifted by the people of my community, Curve Lake. The sense of belonging and encouragement was ever-present. When they say it takes a village to raise a child, I know this to be true.

I eventually made the transition to the big city, which I now call my second home in the National Capital Region. It’s here that I apply the teachings and core values passed down to me throughout my life, integrating them into my everyday actions and decisions.

For the past seven years, I’ve dedicated myself to advancing First Nations issues and ensuring Indigenous Engagement and Relations are placed at the forefront of my work. I carry this responsibility with humility, pride, and unwavering commitment.

As I look ahead, I welcome the journey before me with open arms and gratitude. I thank the Creator every day for the path I walk, and I carry my community with me in everything I do.

Chi-Miigwetch — and all my relations.
