Brianna's Bio

​

Brianna Barnhart is Mohawk from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and lives in Toronto, ON.

 

She comes to CIPS from the Physical Sciences team at Minnow Environmental aquatic consulting company. As an aquatic scientist she led field sampling programs and wrote reports focused on aquatic biogeochemistry. Currently Brianna is working to finish her master's degree in Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto, where she is researching mercury isotopes in northern Canada peat cores and permafrost samples.

 

She has various certificates including remote first aid, swift water training, on ice safety training, and electrofishing. Brianna has an Indigenous Environmental Science undergraduate degree from Trent University that focused on integrating Indigenous and western science with an interest in chemistry.
